Although our family lawyers are based in Brisbane, we operate remotely across Australia. We serve clients in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, including areas such as Jimboomba, Ipswich, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Cairns, Grafton, Newcastle, and Byron Bay.​

JP Family Law & Mediation was founded by Jess Purcell, a family lawyer with a background in family law, domestic violence, and child protection. Jess created a service to offer flexible, client-focused support and promote better ways to resolve family law disputes outside of court. Her approach focuses on helping people, not just applying the law. Jess believes in building strong relationships with clients by being transparent and human, recognising the challenges they face during separation.

As a firm, JP Family Law & Mediation use strategy and compassion to help you through separation. The firm also participates in initiatives like Liptember, raising funds and awareness for women’s mental health. They encourage open conversations and share personal stories to support mental well-being.

After booking, you’ll receive an email with information and links to initial forms. An initial consultation is then conducted via Zoom or phone to assess the situation and plan a way forward. A summary of advice and a proposal, including fee estimates, are provided afterward.
